The Secret Stash

By Jayden Le, Primary Student

‘Can you please tell me where your stash is?’ asked Tom.’ Sorry, I can’t. It’s a secret.’ shrugged Tim. ‘Please?’ begged Tom. ‘Okay, but it wouldn’t be a secret anymore.’ replied Tim. ‘It’s in the attic.’ he continued. ‘Then let’s get up there!’ said Tom. First, they climbed up the stairs in Tim’s house, as they were on a playdate. Then, they reached the attic. ‘Climb up the ladder.’ Tim instructed. ‘Okay.’ muttered Tom. ‘Open the trapdoor.’ said Tim. ‘Argh!’ they shouted in surprise. There were rats, lots of rats in the attic, that had been gobbling down the treats! And even worse, there were horrid cockroaches and mice, who had also eaten the snacks! Then they raced down the ladder, spilling down the stairs and eating all the food. They ate their way through ice cream, pudding, pies, meat, bananas, yogurt and anything else they could find that was edible. Then they zoomed out of the house in a flash. ‘I’m still hungry.’ grumbled Tom. ‘It’s not my fault.’ replied Tim. ‘It was the bugs and rats fault. Well, I’d better clean this mess up, before Mum comes back home from shopping.’ ‘Uh, Tim?’ said Tom nervously.’ Your Mum’s come back from shopping. Plus your Dad’s woken up.’ ‘How do you know?’ asked Tim. ‘There was a car door slamming and there was a yelp that I recognise as your dad’s yelp. ‘replied Tom. Then the door swung open and Tim’s mum, Mrs Pomfrey stood there, face madder than a bull that had been poked, pinched and kicked. ‘You’re grounded for roughly fifty two weeks, or twelve months, or three hundred and sixty five days, which is a year!!!! Am I clear with you, Tim Pomfrey?!’ she yelled.’Just look at this mess!!’ There was some snoring outside [Tim’s dad fell asleep again].
