Harmony Day
By Alana, Year 6
This is Harmony Day, we all have a part to play,
to play mine, I promise to always appreciate,
other people’s races and cultures, like a rainbow’s way,
making sure each colour is special and great.
I must make sure I clearly cherish and value,
other people’s cultures, with a heart that’s true.
I must appreciate my friends’ cultures too,
loving their traditions, old and new.
I promise to appreciate, with every beat,
other people’s races and cultures, so very sweet.
Like a rainbow hugs every colour,
Making sure each one is loved, like no other.
This poem by Alana was written in a Harmony Week workshop run by Story Factory Digital. In this workshop, students explored Harmony Week in a meaningful and creative way. They explored the origins of Harmony Day, and learnt what it meant to genuinely contribute to harmony using creative, persuasive and emotive language.
