A Teaspoon of Joy, of Pure Elation
By Sparsh, Year 7
Watching a lonely, scintillating star shoot through the jet black sky.
Observing a sunset with a cup of tea in your hands.
Listening to the cold waves rushing across your toes.
Basking in the golden warm sun.
Biting into a juicy peach.
Looking at the verdant green trees.
A song that makes a smile break through your face.
The smell of sweet, hot cake cooling off.
The taste of chocolate after the bitterness of sadness.
The smile of a sibling when you help them.
The teaspoon of joy in a brew of emotions.
This poem, A Teaspoon of Joy, of Pure Elation, by Sparsh, was created in An Ounce of Joy. In this workshop, students learn all about hopes and dreams. They learn about the concept of a bucket list and build a collection of experiences and achievements they hope to have in their lifetime. They are subsequently supported to create a short poem that records and celebrates their individual dreams and aspirations.
